Team Velocity exceeded everyone’s expectations when they enabled principal cast Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder to perform their own stunts. The accuracy of Team Velocity’s high-speed winches gave Stunt Coordinator Melissa Stubbs the confidence to ask Paul and Steve to perform the stunts.
Director Marcos Siega and Director of Photography Ramsey Nickell were happy and excited when they shot the first action beats that Melissa had prepped and rehearsed with Team Velocity. The scenes involved traditional rigging techniques combined with raw courage and skill by stunt performer Chris Gordon. Actress Cindy Busby was also involved in the wirework action performing her own stunt with bravery and stamina.
Marcos and Ramsey’s satisfaction and excitement ramped up exponentially when they began to shoot the remainder of the wirework action scenes that Melissa and Team Velocity put together. Using Team Velocity and their high-speed winches Melissa was able to place Paul and Steve into the centre of their own live action stunt scenes allowing them to perform their own stunts with confidence. The stunts that Paul and Steve performed were of a nature that were in the past off limits to actors and only performed by experienced stunt performers. Team Velocity demonstrated that it can consistently put actors back into the action through the use of their high-speed winches making it possible for productions of all sizes to add a great deal of creative value to their production.
First Assistant Director Rob Duncan was grateful to Team Velocity and Melissa as they worked effortlessly together with Paul and Steve knocking off each wirework scene with ease, professionalism and efficiency. The team’s efficiency aided Rob in getting through his tight daily schedule.
The Studio, Line Producer Pascal Verschooris and Production Manager Wayne Bennett were very happy with how flexible and efficient Team Velocity was while working within their compressed schedule and budget. Team Velocity exceeded their expectations and added more creative value than they had thought possible.
