Team Velocity completed work on the feature film "The Tooth Fairy" with Director Michael Lembeck, David Tattersall and stunt coordinator Guy Bews. We flew both performers and camera for main unit in a sequence requiring a custom camera offset.
Again we were excited to be flying camera and actors combined on our high-speed winches. Both rigs were controlled and synchronized using our motion control technology ‘Pathfinder’ and ‘Vector-Cam’.
Michael’s vision of the scene demanded a lot of technical creativity on the part of Team Velocity. The scene required the camera and performer to converge from opposite directions passing over and under each other. We used a custom offset camera gimbal to fly the camera towards and under actor Dwayne Johnson while he flew over the camera in the opposite direction. The success of capturing this scene on film was a clear demonstration of how Team Velocity can add creative value to a production. Michael was ecstatic that we had provided him with a technical solution for his creative vision. First Assistant Director Richard Cowan was pleased to find out how efficiently Team Velocity worked with him on his challenging set.
Adding further value to the production Dwayne was so comfortable flying on our Pathfinder rig that we were able to complete a flying sequence on location that had been previously scheduled for a separate green screen element on stage.
Team Velocity provided a repeat path play mode on their Vector-Cam rig to facilitate the creation of accurate plate shots for Visual Effects Supervisor Jake Morrison.
Team Velocity also showed their creativity extended to the production side maintaining a flexible and collaborative attitude while working with Co-Producer Kevin Halloran and Production Manager Wendy Williams.
