December 2006
Team Velocity
finishes up the season at a frenetic pace when Mike Gunther (Action Director) asks us to help complete his green screen performer flying scenes (using our ‘Pathfinder’ computer controlled 3D high-speed winches) on the television series ‘Fallen’. Working closely with Mike’s stunt rigging team (Reg Milne and Mike Dobbin) Team Velocity met a very challenging shooting schedule set by Edward Bates (Executive Producer), Ron McLeod (Producer) and Craig Forrest (Production Manager).

John Gajdecki and his visual effects team immediately bonded with Team Velocity to form one tight, cohesive team to enable Mike Gunther to meet his demanding shot list. Using visual information provided by John and his team, Team Velocity was able to create complex 3D performer flying scenes in minutes. To stay on schedule, we used two programmers employing two operating desks. The programmers tag teamed, one to work with the shooting crew playing the performer flying scenes (involving cast and stunts) using the winches, and the other working ahead with Mike and John programming scenes, staying one step ahead of the shooting crew.

Team Velocity’s ground breaking ‘Pathfinder’ performer flying system and their ability to integrate themselves seamlessly into Fallen’s crew, helped Mike and the Producers stay on schedule and on budget without compromise in either number or creative content of their shot list.
