Team Velocity has successfully completed a camera-flying job for the major motion picture ‘Eragon’, soon to be released. Peter MacDonald (Second Unit Director) and Mike Heard (VP Production at 20th Century Fox) hired Team Velocity on the spot while attending a performer and camera flying demonstration in Vancouver.
Using our revolutionary new ‘Vector Cam’ we flew camera in 3D. Exterior shots over a pristine meadow in British Columbia Canada were completed. We made use of existing trees on the site and brought in two mobile cranes to facilitate the rigging and create a 3D flying environment of 150m x 150m. Peter MacDonald and Michael McAlister (Visual Effect Supervisor) created high-speed 3D flight paths within this 3D environment. Vector-Cam’s inherent flexibility and efficiency enabled Peter and Michael to design the shots on the day, based on the layout of the outdoor terrain, and the availability and position of natural light. They could choose any direction and shape of flight path, adding in velocity, acceleration and deceleration, allowing for the utmost in creativity. Vector Cam’s 3D positional data was exported to the Visual Effects department.
